On April 10, 2013, Liberty Fund and Butler University sponsored a symposium entitled ?Capitalism, Government, and the Good Society.? The symposium featured presentations by Michael Munger of Duke University, Robert Skidelsky of the University of Warwick, and Richard Epstein of New York University on the topic of role for government in the economy and in our lives. These presentations were followed by a lively panel discussion of this topic moderated by Russ Roberts of Stanford University.
I have decided to offer the following extra credit opportunity for Finance 4335. You can earn extra credit by watching the video of this symposium and writing a succinct (1-2 page) critical essay in which you summarize what you learned from this symposium.? Please also provide your opinions concerning the relative merits (as well as shortcomings) of the various arguments advanced by the distinguished panelists who are featured in this video.? Email your report (in either Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat format) to risk@garven.com by no later than the Wednesday, September 9 at 5 p.m. I will use your grade on this assignment to replace your lowest quiz grade in Finance 4335 (assuming that your grade on the extra credit is higher than your lowest quiz grade).
If you have any questions about this extra credit opportunity, please let me know by emailing me at James_Garven@baylor.edu or calling me at 254-710-6207.
