ORONO, Maine ? The coach of the University of Maine women's hockey ice hockey team is on paid administrative leave pending an investigation focusing on NCAA compliance issues.
The university said Maria Lewis was placed on leave Monday after the NCAA notified the university that it's investigating possible compliance issues.
Among the issues being investigated are whether student-athletes spent too many hours in activities directed or supervised by coaching staff.
The university had no comment. It said personnel issues are confidential.
