DHEA | A Hormone that May be Able to Revive Your Sex Life ...

DHEA | A Hormone that May be Able to Revive Your Sex LifeDuring menopause, the so-called ?hot? are not necessarily the issue of greatest concern to many women. Although many do not say so openly, what they actually lose sleep are the effects of menopause on sexual life. These symptoms may have left your nights of passion in the past might be alleviated with a low dose of the hormone DHEA. Find out!

It is part of nature that sexual desire in women decreases when there is no ovulation, ie, when it comes to menopause or female reproductive cycle. During this stage, you may lose interest in sex, or even if you?re sexually active, have trouble enjoying it. This certainly is that, during this stage, your sex hormone levels drop and, in some women, produce the selflessness and physical problems such as difficulty becoming aroused and lubricated.

Anyway, do not forget that the female sexual response is a more complex than the mere fact of going through menopause, a natural stage in women, not the end of your sex life. For a woman interested in sex, many factors, both physical and emotional.

If you are going through menopause and have noticed that the symptoms are vaginal dryness and decreased interest in sex, do not be discouraged. There are alternatives, such as hormone replacement therapy that can give a push to return to enjoy all the moments of passion with your partner.

But that?s not the only option. According to a recent small study, a low dose of the hormone DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone) may be as effective as hormone replacement therapy to combat sexual symptoms during menopause. This hormone, produced by the adrenal glands is the precursor to the production of sex hormones, androgens (male hormones) and estrogens (female hormones).

According to Italian investigators, the authors of the study, a low dose of DHEA may be the alternative for women who do not want to undergo conventional hormone replacement therapy. For the study, experts from the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, University of Pisa in Italy, analyzed for one year 48 women. Twelve of these received doses of 10 mg of DHEA once daily. Another 12, tested a combination of hormonal therapy and 12 received tibolone, a synthetic hormone replacement used in several countries except the United States. The remaining 12 women did not want to take any hormone replacement therapy and who received vitamin D and calcium to prevent loss of bone mass.

At the end of the study, women taking DHEA had the same improvement in symptoms of menopause than those who received hormone therapy or tibolone took.

It is worth noting that none of them had complained of sexual problems at baseline. However, after a year of treatment, both those who received DHEA as hormone therapy, reported a better sexual performance. In contrast, those who took vitamin D, reported no change in their sex life. And of course, DHEA can be synthesized in the laboratory of the sweet potato (camote) wild (which in English is known as wild yam), but the wild yam is sold as ?natural DHEA? DHEA is not converted in the body .

Something that does not mention this study is that there is no research about the long-term effect of DHEA. As elevated levels of estrogens and androgens in the body, theoretically there is a slight risk of association with the development of hormone-sensitive cancers such as breast or ovarian cancer in people who have the predisposition. So should not be taken without medical supervision, but is sold without a prescription.

This is a pilot study, that is, more studies to confirm the results, plus it is very small. But even so, a new opportunity for many women who are concerned about the symptoms of menopause, especially those that affect the ability to enjoy sex. So if you?re interested, you and keep you, I suggest checking with your doctor about what are the best alternatives for you.
