How to Optimize YouTube Video for Search | Internet marketing | All ...

YouTube as a search engine is not that commonly known. What people know is that it is a mere website hosting user-generated videos. Knowing how YouTube has popularized many current celebrities like Justine Bieber, users only view the video site as a stepping stone to stardom. How about the business side of it? If videos get YouTube views, does that mean a brand gets the celebrity treatment the website usually bestows? The answer is no. Marketers have it hard, since the word ads and selling are avoided by people as much as possible.
So what do you need to do?

You must optimize your YouTube video not only for views it can possibly get but for search and rankings as well. There are two locations where you can rank: YouTube page and search engines (Google, Yahoo, and Bing). Although there are two of these places, the same strategies apply to both. The following strategies are not only useful to video owners and marketers but to an SEO Reseller as well.

1. Keyword placement
Since YouTube is considered the second largest search engine, next to its mother search engine Google, one way to rank is through the use of keywords. Keywords or key phrases are terms that define your product or service such as ?basketball play cards.? If you sell basketball cards, then said terms can be your main keywords.
After you determined the keywords you want to rank for during searches, make sure it?s in the right placements such as titles, description, tags, annotations and captions/subtitles.
Note: Search engine can?t understand videos. They only understand words.
2. Link Building
Search engines value links because they determine the credibility of the website or page, in this case the video. In order to acquire quality links, negotiate with bloggers and web owners to place your video links or embeds on their pages. This way YouTube and Google will see that authority blogs and websites are linking to you, which means your video is quality as well.
Another link building strategy is social sharing. This means sharing video links on Facebook, Twitter or Tumblr. You can create your own accounts or ask some people to share it on their pages or social accounts.
3. Content
Let us save the best for last. Content should be the priority, especially if your goal is to get sales and not merely get YouTube views. The first two (keywords and link building) comes right after. Why? It does not matter if you rank first in the search engines or on YouTube, if your content is no good, who will ever stay to watch it, link on it or even share it? The answer is probably, no one.
Always remember SEO or search engine optimization whenever you want something to accomplish online. It does not matter if they are videos, articles or even music tracks. If you want to get found, do SEO.
